Sophie Cruz is a current 7th grader who has become a political icon for immigration activism! The daughter of two undocumented immigrants, Sophie urged for support for the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans at just FIVE years old!
In September of 2015, Sophie and her family traveled to meet the Pope, and she broke through security to hand the Pope a letter detailing how scared she was of her parents being deported. She asked the Pope to meet with the President and Congress to encourage more openess. And the next day, he did just that!
