At just 15 years old, Faith Odunsi of Nigeria has accomplished what many only dream of — beating out contestants from across the world to win the Global Open Mathematics Competition. Representing Ambassadors School in Ota, Ogun State, Faith triumphed over competitors from countries like China, the UK, the U.S., and Australia, claiming the top prize and global recognition for her math prowess.
Faith attributes much of her success to her father, a doctor, who helped nurture her love of mathematics. Her resume is already stacked with accolades: she’s competed in the South African Mathematics Olympiad, American Mathematics Competition, and Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad, where she earned a silver medal. Nicknamed the “Queen of Mathematics” in Nigeria, Faith has proudly represented her country and inspired students worldwide.
Looking ahead, she hopes to study abroad to access greater opportunities and enhanced educational resources. With determination, discipline, and heart, Faith is showing the world that young girls—especially from underrepresented regions—can rise to the top.
