November Highlight: Roberta Hannah - A Legacy in the Making

This month, we recognize Roberta Hannah, an extraordinary student whose achievement has made national history and inspired countless young people. At just 18 years old, Roberta became the first student from Springfield High School of Science and Technology to be accepted into all eight Ivy League universities—Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania.

Roberta’s journey is a powerful reminder of what dedication, resilience, and a strong support system can accomplish. Balancing rigorous academics with her commitment as a track and field athlete, she mastered the art of discipline and time management—often training early in the morning and studying late into the evening. Her unwavering work ethic, high academic achievement, and leadership inside and outside the classroom set her apart in one of the most competitive admissions processes in the world.

After receiving acceptances from all eight Ivy League institutions, Roberta chose to attend Columbia University, where she will major in biochemistry and African American studies. She hopes to work at the intersection of science and social justice, focusing on healthcare equity and creating meaningful change for marginalized communities.
